Firewall and networking

Addresses, reverse DNS, ports and how transfer is measured.

Last updated 1 August 2026

Each virtual server has at least one IPv4 address that stays with the service for its lifetime. Additional addresses can be added where the plan supports them.

Reverse DNS

A reverse DNS record maps an address back to a hostname. Set it from the Network tab where the plan supports it. The forward record must already point at the same address.

Ports

No inbound ports are blocked at the platform level beyond what the Acceptable Use Policy requires. Your own firewall inside the operating system is the control that matters.

bash
ufw default deny incoming
ufw allow 22/tcp
ufw allow 443/tcp
ufw enable
A minimal ruleset on a Debian or Ubuntu image.

Transfer

Included transfer is stated per plan and measured per calendar month. Traffic in both directions counts unless the plan says otherwise.
